Our latest project involved designing and installing a comprehensive external perimeter protection system to give our client confidence that their site remains secure when the gates are closed and the yard is empty.
Why Timber Storage Facilities Need Protection
The client approached Fusion Fire & Security with a specific challenge: they needed reliable external protection across their timber storage facility, with the site’s compound gates forming an integral part of the alarm system when the yard was locked up at night.
We designed a solution combining perimeter intrusion detection with intelligent CCTV, providing multiple layers of protection around the site.
When the compound is secured and the gates are closed, the gates form part of the alarm system. Alongside this, strategically positioned CCTV cameras monitor key areas of the site using a series of virtual tripwires. If someone attempts to enter the protected area or crosses one of these predefined detection zones, the system can immediately generate an alert.
This provides our client with an early warning that someone may be attempting to access the site, allowing appropriate action to be taken. Where required, alerts can also be passed to the relevant monitoring service and ultimately the police.
Intelligent Protection Around the Clock
The combination of physical perimeter protection, alarm detection and intelligent CCTV creates a highly effective security solution without relying on someone being physically present on site.
For a busy timber yard containing valuable stock and equipment, this provides a significant additional layer of protection against unauthorised access and potential theft.
Most importantly, the system gives our client peace of mind. Once the yard is locked and the system is armed, they know their site is being actively monitored, even when there is nobody there.
